Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is one of the best things that ever happened to the Nigerian economy. This is the woman who cleaned up and made the economy what it is now. A former Minister of Finance in Nigeria, the Harvard Graduate has rejoined World Bank as its Managing Director . Often I wonder if Nigeria would be a better country if more of the leaders were women, well-educated, non-greedy, society-focused women. Women that actually care to bring Nigeria out of its many years of economic gloom rather than try to pass dress-code bills that suggest that girls get raped due to their dressing. Missed Miss USA

Don't know which planet I was in, that I never heard about the Miss USA Pageant that took place yesterday. The show was aired live on NBC from the Sin City....Las Vagas, Nevada. Anyway, I missed the live telecast which was hosted by Donny and Marie Osmond.... Nonetheless, I'll get to watch the videos. Miss Texas 2008, Crystle Stewart, eventually won the competition and was crowned Miss USA 2008. Good for you girl... I wish you a successful reign.

Ashlee Simpson is getting Married

Singer Ashlee Simpson,23, put rumors to rest yesterday when she announced that; she is engaged to her Rocker boyfriend and member of the Fall-out Boy,Pete Wentz,28.

My Jewelry Creationz

And Yes! I design jewelries too. I always knew I had some creativity in me......but Jewelry designing? While living in New York, I would go Manhattan to shop for jewelry findings, tools and semi-precious stones for my sister who lives in Abuja-Nigeria. Little did I know that one day, I would be going to shop for jewelry stuff for myself.


Well, during one of my naija trips, I relunctantly watched my sister as she custom-designed some pieces for her clients. She showed me the basics of handcrafted beads jewelry making and told me that the creativity/design part comes from within.... and so, I picked my pen and paper and started sketching my first piece..... then, I measured and cut a stringing wire for the first time and the rest is history....


Got back to NY and started designing and supplying jewelries to some clients and boutiques..... I love the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment I feel each time I successfully put together a piece.... One thing though.... it's too much of back bending (:-)


Since I moved to Tyler, TX I've not been able to do much.... since I have to drive all the way to dallas to get the findings and all the stuff needed.

British Born Artist Tops US Chart----Leona Lewis

Artist on the Rise^ ^ Leona Lewis tops Billboard's Hot 100 chart with her hit single 'Bleeding Love'. The UK born artist and winner of British version of Idol,
X-Factor (which is produced by American Idol judge, Simon Cowell), just celebrated her 23rd birthday yesterday(april 3, 2008.

The singer has received great reviews in the U.S for her second single 'Bleeding Love', which was the biggest selling single of 2007 in the UK. Leona, who appeared on ABC's 'Good morning America' today was very modest as she thanked her boyfriend for talking her into trying-out for X-Factor. She then went on to perform two of her songs on the show...She sang very passionately, had a wonderful stage presence and sounded really amazing....She also portrayed a "good girl" image like myself :)... She's already been likened to the likes of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston.

Talkshow Queen Oprah Winfrey deemed Leona as "The real deal" after performing on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Simon Cowell who brought Leona to the U.S to secure a £5,000,000 album contract with music mogul, Clive Davis, was said to be very pleased with the UK sales and her success in the U.S so far .... who wouldn't be Simon? hahaha

Today is the 40th anniversary of the tragic assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and I want to share a video that reveals how far we've come and how much this campaign owes to Dr. King's legacy.
Students at a high school in the Bronx, who had no real interest in their government, have found new hope. They were surprised by their own excitement and engagement, but to me, they embody so many reasons why Barack and I decided to get into this campaign.

It's truly moving to see young people inspired by a political leader -- someone who gives them hope and reminds them that they can be anything they want to be if they work hard.

Much has changed in this country since Dr. King's death, and thanks to his life and work we have taken critical strides towards racial equality.

The simple fact that Barack is running a competitive campaign for President is a direct result of Dr. King's legacy -- and this movement for change would be impossible without the support of people of all races, ages, and backgrounds.

I remember back in December of 2006, a group of us were discussing the possibility of Barack running for President. And as you might have read, I was hesitant about the idea.

But then Barack started talking about why he really wanted to do this -- to bring people together and to change the tone of the way we talk to each other in this country. He talked about the need for people to be inspired by their leaders, and the importance of leadership to chart a different course. He talked about Dr. King and Bobby Kennedy, and their passion to challenge a new generation and provide them with role models.

Barack promised that as a candidate and as President he would do everything he could to bring new people to the table. He shared his desire to reach out to our neglected inner cities, to strive to be a role model for young people, and to connect with people who are not involved in politics -- those who feel their voices haven't been heard, those who have been left behind, and those who have been turned off by all the petty bickering in recent years.

We can change that, by standing on the shoulders of folks like Dr. King who came before us.

Watching these students who are excited about their own role in politics for the first time, and watching Barack as he strives to live up to the challenges Dr. King made possible, I am truly touched.
